Sunday 20 June - ami3

ami3

ami3’s programme leans towards the late romantic French with music by Jacques Ibert, Maurice Ravel, and Mel Bonis, as well as New Zealand composer David Hamilton and Johann Sebastian Bach.

The group comprises Monique Lapins – violin, Ashley Brown – cello and Ingrid Bauer – harp. Monique Lapins was for some years a member of the NZ String Quartet and performs at an international level, both professionally and as a chamber musician, soloist and orchestral player. She has released several CDs including a CD of Bartók works with pianist Jian Liu in 2022. This recording has given rise to international podcasts delivered by several radio station platforms in Greece and Latvia.

Cellist Ashley Brown founded NZTrio and is a passionate advocate for New Zealand music. He is in demand as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral principal and recording artist. He has played with Dunedin and Christchurch orchestras and with Yale Symphony in the US. In 2023 he was appointed Principal Cellist with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.

Ingrid Bauer is Principal Harp in the APO and is in demand as a soloist, chamber musician and teacher. Her flute/viola/harp trio Toru has toured for Chamber Music New Zealand, and she also enjoys a collaboration with former Auckland Philharmonia concertmaster, Andrew Beer, as the Beer/Bauer Duo.

This concert is presented in association with Chamber Music NZ
