| In a joint venture with our co-sponsors, the Ministry of Culture, China, Confucius Institute, Wellington, and Te Kökï the New Zealand School of Music, we offer a rare opportunity to hear the complete Etudes by Ligeti and Debussy. Ligeti’s 18 Etudes, written between 1985 and 2001, are rarely performed in concert because of their technical challenges. Debussy’s 12 Etudes date from 1915 and are also seldom heard in concert, Debussy himself having considered them “fiendishly difficult”. Join us for this wonderful experience of piano virtuosity in the twentieth century!
