| Born in Korea, Jason Bae began learning piano at age five, and made his concerto debut only seven years later with the Auckland Philharmonia. In 2008 he won first prize in an International Piano Competition in New York, and has subsequently performed in New York and London. Many other competition prizes and awards have followed. In 2012 Jason was the first New Zealander to be named a ‘Young Steinway Artist’. A graduate of the University of Auckland, where he studied with Rae de Lisle, he is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
In this concert he presents a selection of intense and lyrical Chopin scherzos, the delightful Prokofiev Piano Sonata No. 1, and three romantic sketches from Liszt’s travels in Italy.
